Disclosure: This article is published by Relay. Author Raymond Zhu is a founding member. Prices and plan rules were checked against Relay’s current offers on October 29, 2026. They apply to Relay for macOS; Relay for Windows Beta terms are listed on the download page. Sources: Relay for macOS, Relay Q and the Early supporter bundle, Refund policy, Shipping policy.
Every new account starts with 14 days of Relay Unlimited.
When you download Relay for macOS and create an account, you get 14 days of Relay Unlimited. You don’t enter a credit card to start, so there’s nothing to cancel if you decide it isn’t for you.
The trial is the full plan, so it’s the best time to test Relay in the work you actually do: replies, documents, prompts to AI tools, Terminal commands. Requirements and setup covers what to check before you start the clock.
After the trial, you subscribe or stay on Free.
When the 14 days end and you don’t have another Unlimited entitlement, your account moves to the Free tier rather than stopping. Free has a usage allowance that Relay can adjust, so we don’t quote a fixed number here. The app shows your current plan and limit.
Free exists so you aren’t locked out. If voice input becomes part of how you work every day, it isn’t designed to replace Unlimited.
Relay Unlimited is US$15 a month.
Relay Unlimited is the paid plan. It costs US$15 a month and renews monthly. Relay doesn’t sell an annual subscription; the only year-long options are the two one-time purchases below.
If you see another price or plan name for Relay, such as a different monthly amount or a “Pro” plan, it isn’t a current Relay offer.
The Early supporter bundle is a one-time US$150 purchase.
The Early supporter bundle is a one-time US$150 purchase that combines a redemption code for 12 months of Relay Unlimited, usable now or later, with Relay Q hardware that ships in January 2027. It doesn’t renew. The preorder guide covers what’s in it and when each part arrives.
If you already pay monthly when you redeem a code, the monthly subscription is used first. Your unused code time, and any unused trial time, moves to after it rather than running at the same time. You don’t lose either.
If Relay Q can’t ship to you, there’s a software-only offer.
In regions where Relay Q can’t be shipped, Relay offers 12 months of Relay Unlimited as a one-time US$150 purchase with no hardware. It costs the same as the bundle; there’s no separate regional discount. It suits people who’d rather pay once for a year.
Check tax, shipping and refunds before you pay.
Prices here are list prices in US dollars. Tax, shipping and refund terms are set at checkout and in Relay’s refund and shipping policies. Payments go through Stripe, and Relay never receives your full card number.
These terms cover Relay for macOS. Relay for Windows is in public Beta, and its plan terms are on the download page. See the Windows Beta guide for what else differs.
Which option should you choose?
Start with the trial, whatever you plan to buy. If you use Relay daily by the end of it, choose Relay Unlimited monthly to keep flexibility, or the bundle if you also want Relay Q. If you’re not sure about the hardware, you don’t need to decide now: Relay doesn’t require Relay Q.
What Unlimited pays for is the part that isn’t typing: wording shaped for the app and the person you’re writing to, self-corrections handled for you, spoken revisions of a result and, on Mac, Relay Skills. Apple Dictation vs Relay compares that with built-in dictation.
Quick answers about Relay pricing.
Do I have to buy Relay Q to use Relay? No. Relay for macOS is standalone software. Relay Q is optional hardware, and the bundle is only one way to get it.
Can I use the bundle’s software before the hardware ships? Yes. The 12-month code can be activated as soon as you buy, or saved for later.
Is there an annual or lifetime plan? There’s no recurring annual subscription and no lifetime plan. The two 12-month options are one-time purchases that don’t renew.
Is there a discount code? The current paid offers are the monthly plan and the two one-time offers described here. If a newer offer exists, it will be on the Relay Q page or the download page.
